Eat Jackson has been trying out The Gathering at Livingston periodically over the past few months since they first opened, and we’ve enjoyed wrapping our heads around the full scope of the experience that is Livingston Mercantile and it’s sister restaurant, The Gathering. While technically located inside the Jackson metro area, we feel as if we take a short vacation everytime we visit, and we think you’ll feel the same. It’s location is just far enough “out” to feel decidedly rural while offering an experience that is full of smiling faces, friendly banter and plain and simple good food, we feel sure that once you go, you’ll become a regular.
Now to the details: The Gathering at Livingston is “upstairs” from the Livingston Mercantile store, the all-purpose grocery, dry goods and gas station anchor of the new Town of Livingston. With a craft beer selection that turns heads, paired with premium lump charcoal and top notch gardening and fishing supplies, this place has it all. Don’t need supplies, but just need sustenance? You can walk upstairs or just park out back and walk into an upscale gourmet boutique / spacious restaurant and bar that is open for breakfast at 7 am Tuesday thru Saturday and lunch and dinner Tuesday thru Sunday. Led by the capable and creative hand of Executive Chef Paul Adair, the food stands just fine on its own and is well worth the drive. We think our photo essay below will give you plenty of reasons to want to find out firsthand what The Gathering is all about.
